Police Blotter: Resident Chases Burglar from Home

The Piedmont police blotter from April 8-11 includes the arrest of a man who allegedly robbed a woman sitting on a bench of her bag, a burglar chased from a home, and two more vehicles apparently shot with BBs.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter below were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Monday, April 8

Tree fell on car – At 3:20 p.m., a woman in the 900 block of Kingston Avenue reported that a tree fell on a car. She reported it to Public Works at 7 a.m.

Vehicle rifled – A man in the 200 block of Parkview Ave. reported that his car was rifled through the previous night and he would like extra patrol since his neighbor's home was burgled a month or two ago.

Recyclables violation – At 5:12 a.m., police received a report of a male subject going through recyclables in the first block of Wildwood Avenue. The person was sent on his way by an officer.

Wednesday, April 10

Stolen Acura – A resident in the 100 block of Olive Avenue reported that a green Acura was stolen the previous evening.

Vehicle vandalism, possibly from BB – A resident in the 100 block of Sunnyside Avenue reported damage between her driver-side window and rear window. She believes it was caused by a BB gun sometime the previous evening.

Driver cited in accident – At 4:13 p.m., police received a report from a caller in the 100 block of Olive Avenue of a non-injury accident. The parties exchanged information and the driver was cited.

Identify theft – A woman in the 900 block of Rose Avenue reported that someone had put in a change of address for her residence.

Vehicle rifled – A man in the first block of Prospect Road reported that the locked vehicle of his ex-wife was rifled through Sunday night. Nothing was taken and there was no damage to the vehicle.

Burglar chased out of home – At 11:19 p.m., a man in the 100 block of Estates Drive reported chasing a burglar out of the house. The intruder was described as at Hispanic man, about 5-feet 8-inches tall with long curly hair and wearing a gray hoodie.

Thursday, April 11

Vehicle vandalism – At 7:04 a.m., a woman in the 100 block of Cambridge Way reported a smashed rear window.

Vehicle vandalism, possible by BB – At 2:57 p.m., a woman in the 300 block of Olive Avenue reported that her vehicle appears to have been hit with a BB gun sometime between the day before and today.

Robbery and arrest – At 3:56 p.m., police arrested a man suspected of robbing a woman who was seated on a bench a few minutes earlier near Highland and Mountain avenues. The man allegedly pulled her pink bag away. Police located the suspect and he was identified by the victim.
