British comic songwriter Daniel Cainer casts an ironic but loving eye on all things Jewish. Cainer will bring his irreverent take on family, feuding tailors, bagels, and a less-than-reputable rabbi to a concert at Congregation Beth Emek in Pleasanton on Sunday, February 1 at 7:30 pm.
Cainer has been described as “Poignant and bitter-sweet without the schmaltz…,” and having “a love of shaggy-dog storytelling…”
An award-winning songwriter who has composed for the BBC, Cainer has been recognized with the Three Weeks Edinburgh award, the Galway Fringe award, and by Soho Playhouse NYC Best of Edinburgh and NYC Fringe.
Cainer has a loyal following in Jewish music circles, and while he comes to New York regularly, he has not performed on the West Coast for a number of years. Congregation Beth Emek, the Tri-Valley’s Reform synagogue, is proud to host him for this rare concert.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for youth, and may be purchased online at http://www.bethemek.org/cainer-concert/. Congregation Beth Emek is located at 3400 Nevada Court, Pleasanton. For more information, call the synagogue at 925-931-1055.
