Brush Fire Burns Down Hill Near Poway

A fire burned about a quarter-acre of brush near Poway in Scripps Ranch Monday.

The fire off Big Canyon Lane near Cobble Creek Lane was reported about 6 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Fire crews were initially concerned because the fire was burning down a hill, but by about 6:40 p.m. had stopped it from spreading further, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher said.

No structures were threatened, she said.

Fire crews would remain on scene to mop up, the dispatcher said.
