School Owner Karyn Morrill Makes Waves via Volunteerism, Donations

Karyn Morrill has delivered to the community since moving to Poway in 2006.

Morrill, who owns Floaties Swim School with her husband, has donated more than $3,000 in new books to local Title I schools and sponsored Finish Chelsea’s Run. She also serves on the Painted Rock Elementary School Foundation board.

She brags on her family—both of them.

“What I’m most proud of is obviously my family—my three children inspire me every day to lead by example and show them what it means to work hard and respect others,” she said.

“I’m also most proud of the other ‘family’ I helped create, which is our Floaties family. I’m proud of the hard work, dedication and determination I have put into along with my husband in building our business and welcoming the families of Poway and the surrounding areas into our home.”

Morrill, who looks up to hear grandmother and her mother, often spends her free time hiking and volunteering in her son’s classroom.

What does Women’s History Month mean to you? 

“Women’s History Month is important because not only does it give the young girls of today the opportunity to learn about what we as women have accomplished throughout history but I hope it empowers each of us to continue to work together, love one another, respect one another and strive to support each other at what we do whether you are a stay at home mom, working mom, business owner, college student, etc.

“I’m reminded of why we should celebrate the history, accomplishments, culture of women.”
