The Wait Is Over: In-N-Out Opens Poway Location
The much-anticipated opening of the famed hamburger franchise attracts fans looking to feast on a double-double and more.
The day that many Powegians has finally arrived: The In-N-Out Burger has opened its doors.
The first of the franchise to open in Poway overlooks the intersection of Scripps Poway Parkway and Community Road in the Poway Business Park. It’s located on Gregg Court behind the .
With a simple menu featuring burgers, fries, sodas and milkshakes, In-N-Out has developed a devoted following since the first one opened in 1948. Now Poway residents don’t have to leave town to get their double-double fix.

On opening day Thursday, manager Jaime Arcega said things were running smoothly despite a heavy rush between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. While half of the restaurant’s crew—referred to as associates—are new, half were brought in from other locations to ensure a successful opening and to train the new associates.
“They come from San Diego, Riverside, Arizona, Nevada,” Arcega said.

The veteran associates will stay until the new hires are up to speed and can operate the restaurant on their own, Arcega said.
At midafternoon after the lunch rush had subsided, the In-N-Out was still drawing an enthusiastic crowd and the associates on duty were busy filling orders and keeping the restaurant clean. Opening day seems to have been a success.
“It’s been really good,” Arcega said.
