5 Things: Sick Baby, Dave Roberts & Spain Train Crash

Find out what illness a sick baby might have exposed San Diego travelers to, and get the latest on a big international story.

Here's what you need to know for Thursday, July 25:

  1. Whooping Cough Danger: A 4-month-old baby with whooping cough might have exposed others to the illness after traveling from Lindbergh Airport to Detroit on Friday, July 19. County health officials say the baby was on the 11:20 a.m. Delta flight 3864. Local and federal officials are working to notify people who could have been exposed.
  2. RB Community Council Meets Tonight: County Supervisor Dave Roberts is scheduled to speak to the group at 6:30 p.m. at the RB Library, 17110 Bernardo Center Dr. See the full agenda here.
  3. Spain Train Crash Kills Dozens: The big international story right now is a deadly train derailment in Spain that has killed more than 70 people, with the death toll continuing to rise. The train might have been going twice as fast as it should have been, according to the Associated Press (via the Huffington Post).
  4. Bolt Up!: The Chargers are opening a series of training camp practices to the public starting today—for free. New players and a new coach have many fans thinking this will be a great season for a team that has been, we have to say, a bit disappointing in recent years. What do you think?
  5. TGI...the Day Before Friday: So the workweek isn't quite over for most of us yet, but in case you're looking ahead here's what kind of weather you can expect: Partly sunny skies with light winds and highs around 80º. Also known as, the usual.
