  1. Volleyball on the beach. Rancho Bernardo High School student Sydney Miller has been into indoor volleyball since she was 8 years old. However, when COVID-19 hit, Sydney began spending her time playing volleyball at the beach. She found that she loved it. After high school Sydney will attend the University of Hawaii in Honolulu where she will play beach volleyball for the Wahines. (San Diego Union-Tribune)
  2. A Rancho Bernardo High School tennis tradition ends. The Bernhardt family had a tradition of playing RBHS tennis. However, youngest daughter Christianne's tennis career came to a halt when a bump on her knee turned out to be serious. The diagnosis was a local-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma. After surgery and recovery, Christianne returned to the court and will soon complete her fourth and final season on varsity. Her only wish: to have just one more year. (San Diego Union-Tribune)
  3. San Diego Promise helps adult students too. Thirty adult graduates will join 1,532 high school graduates who will begin their college education this fall. The 30 will attend a San Diego Community College District school, and their education will be free thanks to the San Diego Promise program. According to SDCCD Chancellor Carlos O. Turner Cortez, "The San Diego Promise provides a clear pathway and critical resources that lead them toward upward socioeconomic mobility." (Patch Press Release Desk)
