A Rancho Bernardo mom said she had no clue that her son was suffering mentally. “He sent some text messages saying goodbye and that we shouldn’t mourn him and that we shouldn’t be sad and things of that nature," said Joanne Kendrick. Designed to be less of a correctional facility and more like a rehabilitative campus, San Diego County’s new Youth Transition Campus will help young people turn their lives around and avoid a lifetime of incarceration.
