- After much heated chatter, the proposal to build a Bridge Club game room in Seven Oaks Community Center is withdrawn. “During open session they made it clear they were aggressively against (the proposal),” Turner said. “They also had a petition with more than 250 signatures." - Assembly Brian Maienschein's proposed AB1641 would ensure the law enforcement be involved in the selection of placement locations with a priority on community safety. “More safeguards need to be in place to prevent these individuals, who are still under the jurisdiction of the court and receiving treatment, from being housed in areas that can pose a danger to public safety.” To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. - If you know the name Valerie Brown, you know how valuable she has been to the Rancho Bernardo Community. Valerie Brown has worked with the Girl Scouts, Rancho Bernardo Neighborhood Watch, San Diego’s Aging in Place Chapter, RB’s Spirit of the Fourth Committee, Poway Unified School District PTA, the Ed Brown Center for Active Adults, the City of San Diego’s Community Emergency Response Team, and the Red Cross. In 2012 she was inducted into the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame. These are just some of the reasons that Valerie Brown was named 77th Assembly District's 'Woman of the Year.'
