- A 60-foot monopine faux tree cell tower has been proposed for installation on the Rancho Bernardo Swim & Tennis property. Opponents voiced their views at Thursday night's Rancho Bernardo Planning Board meeting. Some suggested that it might be acceptable if the monopine was set further back on the property amidst the other trees. Nearby residents are welcome to express their views at the next virtual meeting on Sept. 7. (The San Diego Union-Tribune)
- A Rancho Bernardo student has graduated with a master's degree in anthropology from Cal State University, Long Beach. Another student has graduated with a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Rhode Island. And another student graduated with a bachelor's from Troy University, Alabama. Additionally, a nursing major was named to the Dean's List, University of Utah, Salt Lake City. (The San Diego Union-Tribune)
- A Rancho Bernardo woman has escaped from the Taliban. The woman was the owner of a children's photography school in Kabul. She tried to leave Afghanistan several times but was beaten before she could escape to safety. She witnessed several murders along the way. Today, safe in RB, she suffers with anxiety with horrible nightmares. (CBS News 8)
