A wildfire blackened about 10 brushy acres near Lake Hodges late Thursday afternoon, moving dangerously close to some high-end homes but causing no reported structural damage or injuries.
The blaze erupted off the 19100 block of Lake Drive in the Del Dios area shortly after 4:30 p.m., authorities reported.
Ground crews and personnel aboard air tankers and water-dropping helicopters attacked the flames, halting their spread within an hour, Cal Fire Capt. Mike Mohler said.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
