- They said it would happen. Now it has. Gas prices have risen to over $5 a gallon. When will it end? That is "largely dependent on world events and oil prices, as well as California's gasoline supply issues which often tend to occur in the spring months," said Marie Montgomery, a public relations specialist with the Automobile Club of Southern California. - Although the mask mandate is gone, the California Department of Public Health strongly urges that people continue to mask indoors. In some high-risk settings, masks will be required. Masks will still be required at health care venues and long-term care facilities, detention centers, transit hubs and public transit, as well as cooling and emergency shelters.
