1. California gas prices may hit $5 per gallon due to the international crisis between Russia and Ukraine. The U.S. and several other countries have imposed sanctions against Russia. As a result of the sanctions, Russia may withhold oil from the rest of the world. This will lower the availability of gas, and that will drive prices higher. 2. “Words matter, particularly in our work to make our nation’s public lands and waters accessible and welcoming to people of all backgrounds,” Interior Secretary Deb Haaland said in a statement. That is why the names of some sites need to be changed to cut sexism and racism. Names such as: Squaw Canyon, Squaw Peak, and Squaw Tit must be replaced with names respectful of sex, ethnicity, and racial background. Those names are particularly disrespectful of Indigenous women. 3. Seniors need companionship and love. That is why the San Diego Humane Society has waived all fees for seniors age 65+ wishing to adopt a pet. Animals in the program are spayed/neutered, have current vaccinations, and permanent microchip identification. Seniors must bring photo ID for age verification.
