Why Go: If you're already wondering if you need to revamp your backyard as summer approaches, the Spa, Pool and Barbecue Show might be the place to spend part of your weekend.

Where/When: Del Norte High School, 4 p.m. Feb. 6.
Why Go: Well, yeah, that other sporting event is going on this afternoon, but hey, you don't get to meet any of the Steelers or Packers personally. Set to appear: Adrian Gonzalez, Heath Bell and Quentin Jammer. Also features music and a silent auction.
Pricing: Free, but signing up online for a ticket is encouraged.
Where/When: San Diego Opera. 2 p.m. Feb. 6.
Why Go: Final chance to see the classic tale of a princess whose suitors are doomed to die until a prince tries to turn the tables on her.
Pricing: $35-225.
Where/When: California Center for the Arts, 7 p.m. Feb. 5.
Why Go: For a unique take on a Biblical standard. Ballet Magnificat!, a Christian troup, performs "Ruth," a variation on the Old Testament story, which transfers the tale to Spain, with a voyage to America.
Pricing: $9.50.
Where/When: Get half-price admission at 40 museums throughout the county from Feb. 1-28.
Why Go: You can experience everything from art, music and history to the environment, the military and zoology at the participating museums.
Pricing: Free vouchers can be picked up at any Macy's store in the county. Tickets at the museums vary, but each voucher is good for up to four half-price admissions.
