Your five-minute guide to everything going on today in town.

(Patch Media)

Morning, neighbors! It's me again, Bettyann Pernice

Here are the top stories in Rancho Bernardo-4s Ranch today:

  1. Proposal to stop violence. Marni Von Wilpert, City Council Member representing RB, has proposed a "ghost gun" ban in San Diego. Right now, gun kits are available for purchase with no background check. Purchasers of gun kits are often people with violent criminal histories. Assembled within 15 minutes, these kits are used to make handguns and rifles. (The San Diego Union-Tribune)
  2. Public webinar on calling 9-1-1. It can be challenging to navigate public safety services. For this reason, the San Diego Sheriff's Department is partnering with the San Diego Chapter of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to provide a practical guide on using 9-1-1. The webinar is free and is available in several languages. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Rancho Bernardo author pens Biruta's Story. Lilita Hardes began writing Biruta's Story in 2018. Through family interviews, letters, documents and historical information, Lilita was able to piece together the story of her mother's emigration. Biruta's Story is a memoir of home, war and finding refuge. The book may be purchased on Amazon. Personalized and group copies are available from lhardes.com (The San Diego Union-Tribune)
