  1. Modern Day Slavery In RB. They said it can't happen here, but it did. At a nail salon in the Bernardo Heights shopping center, a young woman was forced to work long hours for little or no money.   2. 4S Ranch Girl Scouts earn Gold. Six Girl Scouts from 4S Ranch have earned highest scout honors. They earned their Gold Awards by creating projects relating to type 1 diabetes, financial independence, spreading kindness, ElderHelp San Diego, a workshop for music students, and financial literacy for teenagers.   3. SDsafe@sdsheriff.org received 500 emails on the first day of the public comment period to respond to the placement of SVP Badger in Rancho Bernardo. Community groups urge residents to write and voice their opinions before the comment period ends on Oct. 14. After that the public can attend a public hearing on Oct. 29.
