While San Diego does not have the most expensive homes, it is behind in terms of income. While San Francisco's average home price is more than $1 million, its average income is just over $112K.   3. Climate change is affecting our region. It's warming our ocean, melting glaciers, rising tides, and causing coastal flooding. Reports confirm that San Diego will see another foot of sea level rise by 2050. Our crumbling seaside cliffs threaten the stability of train tracks and beach erosion along our shores. "It's coming, and if we don't prepare for it, we're going to get caught out in a few decades," said Helen Fricker, a glaciologist studying sea-level rise at UC San Diego's Scripps Institution of Oceanography. "It's really bad." Some have raised concerns about the more than 3 million pounds of nuclear waste, saying the situation is ripe for catastrophe, especially as tides continue to rise.
