- Want local clean energy and jobs? Join the “Protect Our Communities Foundation Local Clean Energy Forum” Feb. 22, 6 p.m. (Online). Topics will include Local Solar Energy 101, and SDG&E, highest rates in the country – how the NEM solar decision impacts us. California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will decide on net-energy metered (NEM) rooftop solar in the spring of 2022. - One out of four homeless adults in San Diego are over age 55, according to the County’s ‘Point in Time’ Count. County Supervisors Joel Anderson and Terra Lawson-Remer want the County to design a pilot program to provide subsidies to rent-burdened older adults who are at risk of becoming homeless. "No senior should be sleeping on a sidewalk because they lost their home," said Lawson-Remer. "This program will help to catch seniors before they fall into homelessness, making sure a roof stays over their head and they can live with the dignity they deserve." - Senate Bill, SB 841, and Assembly Bill, AB1641, are both efforts designed to address loopholes in the system regarding the placement of sexually violent predators. “The recent cases of Douglas Badger and Merle Wakefield fit an ongoing pattern of deceit and deception by the Department of State Hospitals,” said Sen. Brian Jones, whose 38th District includes Poway and 4S Ranch. “Families throughout Mt. Helix, Ranchita, Borrego Springs and Rancho Bernardo were jolted by the state’s attempt to put an SVP in their neighborhoods. Thankfully in these cases, judges have intervened and prevented the forced and dangerous placements of SVPs into inappropriate neighborhoods.” To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link.
