Here are three of the top stories in Rancho Bernardo-4s Ranch today:
- Poway Unified School District (PUSD) stands by the mask mandate. Some parents whose kids refused to wear masks are outraged over the handling of their kids. They say that PUSD told parents to come get their kids, or the school would notify Child Protective Services. Parents say that PUSD should protect their unmasked kids by keeping them in school. PUSD said it will continue to protect masked kids and staff from the unmasked. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (KUSI)
- Flippin' Pizza now offers free pizza slices to kids who choose not to wear masks. Jason Bennett, the owner of two franchises, has taken the side of kids and parents who buck the rules. A Facebook flier stated “Calling all kids! Flippin Pizza is offering a free pizza slice for any student that gets kicked out of class for being unmasked. Let freedom ring.” To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Times of San Diego)
- The long-range model forecasts that a large earthquake will occur within the next 12 years. However, the earthquake warning comes seconds before the earthquake occurs. That is why it is necessary to prepare for an earthquake before it happens. ‘Taking steps to prepare now could reduce injuries and damage to your home and help your household recover in the event of a significant earthquake,’ said Jeff Toney, director of the San Diego County Office of Emergency Services. "Many of these suggestions are cost-free and take just minutes to do. It's important not to put emergency preparedness off." To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link.
