Here are the top three stories today in Rancho Bernardo-4s Ranch:

  1. Students at Twin Peaks Middle School recently invited a boy named Cole and his aide (for his autism) to join them at lunch. “He’s a nice kid,” Tate Julian said. “Me and my friends plan to do it daily.” Poway Unified School District (PUSD) started this Inclusive Practices Program a few years ago and then adopted a “general education for all” policy. Science teacher Amy Hillebrecht, a general education teacher, said, "the program has been extremely productive for special education students and their peers. I think it’s fantastic." 2. It’s that time again! If you’ve been looking for an excuse to buy cookies, now you have it. Girl Scouts will offer those delectable cookies once again as they begin their door-to-door campaign on Jan. 30. In addition to the flavors you know, there is a new cookie flavor called “Adventurefuls” offered for $5. The new cookies are described as “brownie-inspired cookies with caramel flavored crème and a hint of sea salt.” To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (The San Diego Union-Tribune)
  3. The future of San Pasqual Academy is stable. The County Board of Supervisors voted to expand services to provide a campus for foster youth at the Academy. The plan is to create transitional housing for students 18–24 years old and teach them to become self-sufficient in a safe environment. When fully operational, the academy could serve up to 116 youths. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Patch Press Release Desk)
