Here are the top stories today in Rancho Bernardo-4s Ranch:
- Product Recall — A salmonella outbreak prompted Trader Joe's to remove Citterio brand Premium Italian-Style Salame Sticks from its stores. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), at least 20 people have become ill and three have been hospitalized. The CDC has issued specific instructions on how to dispose of the product and how to handle items that may have come in contact the product. - The Rancho Bernardo News Journal won several San Diego Press Club awards. One reporter, three columnists, and a freelancer received the awards for their journalism. In addition, the Outstanding Media Management award was presented to the president and general manager of the Union-Tribune Community Press. The OMM award is presented “to the boss or supervisor who ‘gets it’ when it comes to managing information teams,” according to the San Diego Press Club. - Who says there is no crime in RB and 4S Ranch? According to the CrimeMapping.com website, crimes committed Oct. 18 - 25 included various types of offences. Misdemeanors: vandalism, drunk in public, shoplifting, use/under influence of controlled substance were included. Felonies: battery with serious bodily injury, grand theft (money, labor, property), commercial burglary, residential burglary were also logged. In addition, there were several sex crimes committed.
