- According to a lawsuit filed, Sony PlayStation is a toxic workplace for women. More than eight women at Sony in Rancho Bernardo have filed a class-action lawsuit against the gaming giant. The charges against Sony PlayStation include demeaning comments, unwelcome advances, and a lack of attention paid to their work or ideas. At a “calibration session” only four women were considered for promotions, compared to 70 men. According to one woman, there were comments made about the family lives of female candidates, while there were no such comments made about male candidates. “I believe Sony is not equipped to appropriately handle toxic environments,” wrote Kara Johnson, a former program manager, in her statement. She noted she was aware of 10 women who’d left her office in Rancho Bernardo in the four months preceding her departure, a sign to her of systemic problems. - A Rancho Bernardo High School junior has verbally committed to play catcher for Penn State’s softball team. Audree Mendoza will start in the fall of 2023. “I walked onto the campus on my recruiting visit, and I just felt like I was home. It was where I wanted to be. It is kind of scary knowing what I’ve gotten myself into,’’ she said. “I looked at four or five other schools, but this was the one for me.” To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link.
