The Citizens’ Law Enforcement Review Board will host a virtual town hall Feb. 22 on a report recently published by the Center for Policing Equity that looked at practices by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The Sheriff’s Department participated in a National Justice Database Project, in which the CPE independently reviewed the department’s uses of force, traffic stops, and non-traffic stop data from 2016 to 2020.
CPE published the report in December 2021. Among its findings, the report found disparities in how minorities were treated. The Sheriff’s Department issued a response disputing those conclusions and questioned the analysis.
The public is invited to participate in the virtual town hall at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at https://zoom.us/j/92431622262?pwd=WktGMXJMSjlxaGpiaXFLbks1N1NYUT09. No registration is required.
