Here are three of the top stories in Rancho Bernardo-4s Ranch today:
- Turtleback Elementary School students raised over $14K from a Spell-A-Thon, far exceeding the goal of $8K. “We were obviously very thrilled and happy with everyone’s effort,” Turtleback Education Foundation vice president Archana Balasubramanian said. “This is not typical. The credit goes to the students, their families and teachers who encouraged them to participate and give back to their school." Money will support STEM, art and music programs. - The Hall of Fame has selected Rotarians Michael Fuqua and Jim Hyldahl to be the 123rd & 124th inductees since the organization was formed in 1974. The two men are being recognized for their volunteer leadership to the community. “We are very excited about our new inductees becoming members, even more so, since we have had to postpone any celebration for over two years due to COVID-19,” said RB Hall of Fame President Debbie Kurth, a 2019 inductee. The two new members will be honored at a dinner and program in June or July. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (The San Diego Union-Tribune)
- San Diego has hit a new tragic milestone. There have been more than 5K COVID-19 deaths here. "Every death is tragic, and our condolences go out to the family and friends of all of the San Diegans who have lost their lives during this pandemic," said Wilma J. Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. "Vaccination continues to be our best defense against COVID-19 and associated hospitalizations. I urge anyone who is not up to date with their shots to get vaccinated." Find out where COVID-19 vaccinations are available. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link.
