  1. Can a new traffic light backup battery make RB and 4S Ranch residents safer? A new project, paid for by the vendor, will test to see if a traffic light backup battery could make residents safer in emergencies and during power shutoffs. The plan would install a nickel-zinc battery which would replace the existing lead, acid-based backup battery currently in use. Learn more: click into parenthesis, then click the link.   2. The Kumeyaay — the original RB inhabitants. You may have heard that President Joe Biden issued a proclamation last Friday making Oct. 11 Indigenous People's Day. What do you know about our RB indigenous people, the Kumeyaay, the people who lived where you live now?   3. Mayor Todd Gloria names RB resident Kenan Pala to the reactivated Youth Commission. Pala, who attends Francis Parker School, founded Kids4Community, a nonprofit that works to involve children 5 or younger in charitable efforts.
