  1. After 22 years, Pat and Pat O’Sullivan of Village Mail have retired and passed the baton to the new owners. At this time, the staff will be remaining so you may see some of the same pleasant smiles as before. Stop by and meet the new owners, Sunny and Shalini, at Village Mail. (Facebook)
  2. San Diego County opens four more coronavirus testing sites. The capacity is now at 6,500 daily tests due to increased demand. Testing will also be available at pharmacies and medical providers. Results are usually available in 1 - 2 days. (San Diego County Government)
  3. Sample ballot pamphlets are on the way to San Diego County’s 1.96 million registered voters for the Sept. 14 California Gubernatorial Recall Election. You should receive yours by August 21. If you elected to receive your sample ballot electronically, you should have already received it. Voters who wish to vote in person can find their closest voting location listed on the back of the pamphlet which can also be viewed online. (County News Center)

  • IMMIGRATION POLICIES — Professor Bruno Leone will talk about America’s immigration laws enacted between 1875 and 1924. The lecture is available via Zoom from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17.
