  1. Yes, the mask mandate is now in effect. Yes, wearing a mask may protect those around you from a possible COVID-19 exposure. When those around you wear a mask, they are protecting you. There is also another reason to wear a mask. In addition to preventing COVID-19 infection, masks may also prevent the spread of influenza (the flu), and perhaps even the common cold.
