- After her family moved here from Taiwan four years ago, Casey Yu taught herself English by listening to audiobooks. She studied English six hours a day for four months and gained the ability to speak the language. Later she learned that she was deaf in one ear. Her doctor suggested that Yu learn to play an individual sport such as golf. She tried it and found she liked it. Yu is still playing — and excelling.
