1 Dead In Shooting At South Bay Pool Party: Report

The deadly shooting happened Wednesday night in the 23000 block of Huber Avenue in Torrance, according to police.

TORRANCE, CA — One person was killed when gunfire erupted at a pool party in Torrance Wednesday night, according to a report by CBS.

Police say officers responded just before 9 p.m. to a shots-fired call in the 23000 block of Huber Avenue. There, they found the boy who'd been shot and multiple spent shell casings, according to the Torrance Police Department.

Torrance Fire Department personnel arrived to treat the boy at the scene, but he died from his injuries, police said. He was identified as a 17-year-old Chyler Paton, according to the report fromCBS.

Hundreds were at the Torrance home, which had been rented out for an end-of-college pool party, according to the CBS report, when shots appear to ring out from an SUV driving around the corner. At least one person at the home returned fire, according to the report.

The TPD is asking that witnesses or anyone with more information contact the department at 310-328-3456.
