Barbee, Nehrenheim Headed To Runoff For Redondo Beach's District 1 Council Seat

The results will not be certified until Tuesday, but Nehrenheim's vote total is about 71 short of 50 percent to avoid a runoff.

REDONDO BEACH, CA -- Councilwoman Martha Barbee will have to face her challenger, activist Nils Nehrenheim, in a runoff for the Redondo Beach First District seat following final vote results released Monday.

According to the new figures, Nehrenheim's lead fell to 47.99 percent, and he needed at least 50 percent of the vote to unseat Barbee outright.

Barbee finished with 42.51 percent.

The results will not be certified until Tuesday, but Nehrenheim's vote total is about 71 short of 50 percent, with 1,734 votes. Barbee finished with 1,536 votes.

Nehrenheim finished the March 7 election with 48.2 percent of the vote and a March 17 update saw his lead decreased to 48.1 percent.
