Power Back for Most After Blackout

A Southern California Edison spokeswoman says the outage affected 4,779 customers; only 63 remain without power Monday morning.

Only 63 Southern California Edison customers in Redondo Beach remained without power Monday morning after an underground cable failed, company spokeswoman Lauren Bartlett said Monday.

The power outage, which initially affected more than 4,700 customers in the area, hit the city at about 10:17 p.m. Sunday, according to Bartlett. The affected area was bordered by Esplanade to the west, Knob Hill Avenue to the south, Pacific Coast Highway to the east and Herondo to the north.

Power was restored to customers throughout the  night, and crews were working to restore service to the others, Bartlett said. Power should be restored to the remaining customers by noon Monday.
