Huey, Bowen in Limbo During Vote Tally

The vote count to determine the second contender in the 36th Congressional District runoff resumes Thursday.

Janice Hahn's competitor in the July 12 runoff for the 36th Congressional District seat will be determined soon, City News Service reported.

Officials will begin tallying the estimated uncounted 10,443 ballots—8,900 vote-by-mail ballots, 1,182 provisional ballots and 361 damaged ballots—Thursday morning at the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's headquarters in Norwalk. The count should be finished Friday.

Only 206 votes separate Republican Craig Huey and Secretary of State Debra Bowen, a Democrat. The two currently have 21.87 percent and 21.48 percent of the vote, respectively. Huey's strong showing was surprising in the predominately Democratic district.
