Preliminary Hearing Scheduled For Man Accused Of Charging At Redondo Beach Police

REDONDO BEACH, CA -- A preliminary hearing is scheduled Friday for a man who was shot in San Pedro after allegedly driving toward a Redondo Beach police officer who was approaching him.

Thomas Mark Dallaire of Walnut, 36, has pleaded not guilty to one felony count each of assault upon a peace officer, assault with a deadly weapon, fleeing a pursuing peace officer's motor vehicle while driving recklessly, driving or taking a vehicle without consent and hit-and-run driving resulting in injury to another person for the Dec. 10, 2016 incident.

The criminal complaint alleges that Dallaire was convicted in 2008 of first-degree residential burglary and in 2010 of grand theft of personal property and second-degree commercial burglary.

Dallaire allegedly led police on a pursuit through Redondo Beach and San Pedro, authorities said.

During the chase, Dallaire allegedly crashed the vehicle he was driving into another car and then put the vehicle in reverse in an attempt to strike a Redondo Beach police officer who had gotten out of his patrol car to approach him near Gaffey Street and Summerland Avenue in San Pedro, authorities said.

An officer-involved shooting ensued, in which Dallaire was wounded by Redondo Beach police, according to authorities.

Dallaire was able to drive away, but the chase ended in the area of 17th and Leland streets after the vehicle malfunctioned, prosecutors said.
