Local Brownie Troop Collecting Coats
Brownie Troop 12045 has already collected six large bags full of coats.

A Redondo Beach Brownie Troop will wrap up its warm coat drive to help those in need this Saturday.
Brownie Troop 12045, which includes girls from Lincoln, Washington and Birney elementary schools, has been collecting the coast since Nov. 16. A collection box will be at the Lincoln Elementary School Library through the end of Friday.
"So far, we have collected six large heavy-duty bags full of coats," Patrice Welch told Patch via email earlier this week. "If I had to estimate, it is about 100 coats to date donated by the community."
The girls will collect the coats from 8 a.m. until noon in front of Washington Elementary School, located at 1100 Lilienthal Lane.
This project is part of the Redondo Beach Girl Scout Service Unit. All coats will be donated to the St. Augustine Volunteer Emergency Service, which will give the garments to people in need.
