REDONDO BEACH, CA -- The Redondo Beach City Council has approved a $9 million deal to buy out the Fun Factory, clearing the way for a possible massive makeover of the Redondo Beach waterfront, the Daily Breeze reported.
The City Council voted 3-2 Tuesday to buy the lease from longtime pier arcade owner, Steve Shoemaker. The deal ends a long-running legal drama between Shoemaker and the city, which included multiple lawsuits and criminal charges, according to the Daily Breeze.
In taking the deal, Shoemaker agrees to vacate the pier in three years, settle all legal disputes with the city and forgo any future litigation against the city, the Daily Breeze reported.
