REDONDO BEACH, CA -- A 25-year-old Redondo Beach man died while rock climbing at Joshua Tree National Park on Saturday, the Riverside Coroner's Office announced Tuesday.

Samuel Boldissar was climbing Cyclops Rock -- a popular climbing spot -- when, at around 3:45 p.m., he fell about 60 feet, park spokesman George Land said. He was pronounced dead an hour later, according to the coroner's office.

Boldissar, who was with a group of friends when he fell, was described as a beginner rock climber, according to the Desert Sun.
