Redondo Beach OKs Lease with CenterCal for Waterfront Redevelopment

The deal, however, is not done. There are still a few more hurdles to overcome before the lease can be signed.

REDONDO BEACH, CA -- Redondo Beach City Council on Wednesday narrowly approved a 99-year lease with CenterCal for the ambitious makeover of the waterfront, but there are still hurdles to overcome, according to the Daily Breeze.

After a contentious six-hour debate and public comment, the City Council voted 3-2 to approve the terms of the lease, the Daily Breeze reported.

The planned makeover includes a proposal, which was approved by the city last year, to bulldoze much of the existing development for a "harbor village," according to the Daily Breeze. The "village" will include retail shops, restaurant, a hotel and dine-in movie theater.
