Redondo Beach Runners Dominated St. Paddy's Day 5K

Redondo Beach residents captured both the men's and women's titles at the 14th annual Village Runner St. Patrick's Day 5K on Sunday.

REDONDO BEACH, CA -- Redondo Beach residents dominated the 14th annual Village Runner St. Patrick's Day 5K on Sunday, capturing both the men's and women's titles, according to the Daily Breeze.

In the men's division, Stewart Harwell was first with a time of 15 minutes and 25 seconds.

“It was great racing conditions,” the 33-year-old oil and gas engineer told the Daily Breeze. “I’m so excited to win this race. I ran in college at UCSB, but I wasn’t satisfied. I’ve gotten much better in my running as I’ve gotten older.”

The women's division winner, Nathalie Higley, won with a time of 18:26, becoming the oldest woman to win the race, according to the Daily Breeze.

“I’ve won this race at least four times,” she told the Daily Breeze. “This year was hard. I made my move halfway through and I’m just very happy with the win.”
