Redondo Beach's Seaside Lagoon Facing Tougher Regulations

The city is pushing back proposed stricter guidelines from water quality regulators to keep the facility open.

REDONDO BEACH, CA -- Redondo Beach officials are hoping for a compromise with water quality regulators that would allow Seaside Lagoon to continue to operate, the Daily Breeze reported.

The saltwater pool with a sandy bottom has been plagued with fines from regulators for water quality issues in the past, according to the Daily Breeze.

The pool uses sea water sucked in through pipes from the AES power plant, chlorinated for swimmers and dechlorinated before being released back to the sea.
