Small Business Spotlight: Bright Financial Planning

Though Bright Financial Planning is technically located in Torrance, founder/owner Kim Bright is a nearly 20-year resident of Redondo Beach. Bright, a CPA and financial planner, answered five questions from Patch about her business.

Patch: How did Bright Financial Planning get started?
Kim Bright: My passion for helping individuals with life planning and achieving their goals was my primary motivation to become a financial planner. I founded Bright Financial Planning in 2012 after receiving my Certification for Personal Financial Planning from UCLA and passing the very rigorous National CFP Board Exam. Prior to launching my business, I served as Sr. Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer for an advertising and marketing firm for ten years. As a result of the skills learned through these experiences and my drive and passion to help others succeed, I was well equipped to pursue financial planning as a business. I am grateful to be doing something that is both rewarding on a personal and professional level.

Patch: What's Bright Financial Planning known for?
Bright: Bright Financial Planning emphasizes comprehensive financial planning including cash management, risk management, tax planning, investment management, retirement planning, estate planning, and transition planning. Our goal is to thoroughly understand your financial needs and to provide you with knowledge and education so you can make decisions that will help you meet your goals and objectives.

Patch: What's unique about Bright Financial Planning?
Bright: We specialize with Women in Transition: marriage, divorce, or death of spouse; having a baby or adopting a child; changing jobs or careers; planning for retirement; receiving an inheritance or financial windfall; buying or selling a family business; planning for a child's education; or any other transition in life that requires professional financial advice or guidance.

Patch: What's the best part about being located in the South Bay?
Bright: It doesn't get any better than the South Bay. The people, climate, great schools, access to world class entertainment, beach, mountains, dessert, and the small town community lifestyle make it the ideal place to call home. I grew up in the mid-west and moved to Southern California 30 years ago. When I discovered the South Bay (Redondo Beach), I knew this is where I wanted to settle down and raise my family. There’s no place like the South Bay.

Patch: If you could give your customers one piece of advice, what would it be?
Bright: "A goal without a plan is just a dream." This is so true. If you want your dreams to come true, take the time to create a plan and put it in motion. Life is short. Dream, plan, and live. Fulfill your dreams.
