The mammals eat the sardines, which have domoic acid stored in their bellies, and it builds up in the mammals' systems to toxic levels.

Beach Restrooms: Too Dirty or Open Too Late?

Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky told constituents that the are a "major health issue," saying that he had received "a large number of complaints" since a new cleaning schedule was instituted May 1 due to budget cuts.
