25 Cited In Peninsula DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint

One citation was issued for driving on a suspended license and 24 were issued for driving without a license, San Mateo police said.

SAN MATEO, CA — Officers issued 25 citations over the weekend at a San Mateo DUI/driver’s license checkpoint, police said.

The checkpoint was held from 6 p.m. Friday 10 to 2 a.m. the next day near Peninsula Avenue and North Delaware Street.

Police screened 516 motorists and conducted four field sobriety tests.

One citation was issued for driving on a suspended license and 24 were issued for driving without a license, San Mateo police said.

No arrests were made for driving while impaired.

The operation involved police officers, Community Service Officers, and SMPD Explorers.

“DUI checkpoints, which some people feel are just an inconvenience, are important tools to educate about the public about safety. And safety is always a priority,” police said on the agency’s Facebook page.
