Hardy retired from active duty in October 2022, and was put in the care of Corporal Torres and his family.
"It brings us some comfort knowing that his final years were spent in the home of the partner he trusted most," police said. "His contribution to officer safety and to helping apprehend dangerous offenders was invaluable. Many of us had the privilege of watching Hardy work, and many more felt the impact of his service, even if only through the stories shared by those who worked closest with him."
