REDWOOD CITY, CA — When your name is "Giggles," and you are the only clown in "The Smallest Show on Earth," and you’ve lost your smile, that's something to write home about.

Dragon Theatre has introduced a lineup of children-oriented performances and activities that are sure to bring a big grin to parents and youngsters alike.

Set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the homegrown San Francisco Peninsula theater, the "Smallest Show On Earth" highlights Giggles on a circus adventure to find his grin and meet his pals "Tilly the Tightrope Walker" and the "Great Alonzoooo, Hans the Great." Collectively, they perform the smallest, but most-astonishing acts to remind Giggles of his greatest gifts.

This performance is followed by a theater game that interacts with the audience.

Also set for a showing as this small, progressive theater located in downtown Redwood City, a new educational initiative called Redwood City Youth Theater has been launched on the Peninsula by Dragon Productions Theatre Company and Broadway by the Bay. Plot lines geared to appeal to children is all the rage on stage these days, and the Dragon Theater has capitalized on that trend.

In addition, a way to seize on a child's impulsive behavior is to harness it at a children's Improv, a course designed to teach the life skills of quick thinking, working as an ensemble and going with the flow. Students will build on introductory concepts to create stories or scenes on the spot.
