PatchClips: Redwood City Celebrates Festival of Lights

Courthouse Square was full of happy people, lights, food and music Monday for the third annual Chanukah Festival.

Families from all over the Peninsula came to Courthouse Square in Redwood City Monday night for the third annual Chanukah Festival, hosted by the local Chabad MidPen.

Activities included a scavenger hunt of historical facts about Jews and Chanukah, a fire juggler and balloon artist, a DJ spinning tunes, and, of course, donuts and latkes for all.

The evening's highlight was a menorah lighting ceremony, hosted by Chabad MidPen's Rabbi Levi Potash. Redwood City Mayor Alicia Aguirre and outgoing State Senator Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto) were on hand to help light the shamash, or the tallest center candle of the menorah.
