Redwood City To Hold New Year’s Eve DUI Checkpoint
The checkpoint will be staffed by CHP officers trained in the detection of alcohol and/or drug impaired drivers, the agency said.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — The California Highway Patrol will conduct a New Year’s Eve sobriety checkpoint in Redwood City, the agency said.
The checkpoint will be held from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at a location that has not yet been announced, the CHP said.
The checkpoint will be staffed by CHP officers trained in the detection of alcohol and/or drug impaired drivers, the agency said.

“Every year, members of our community are injured or killed on local roadways by impaired drivers,” the CHP said in a statement.
“It is the Department’s goal to use this enforcement tool to assist with the reduction of injury and fatal collisions that are caused by impaired drivers. We are asking the public to designate a driver or arrange transportation to make sure they reach their destination safely.”

The checkpoint is funded by grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
