UPDATED: Redwood City Home Ransacked, Dog Stolen

UPDATE - WED., NOV. 14, 3:31 P.M.:

The Redwood City Police Department (RCPD) sent out a community bulletin Wednesday afternoon with the following additional details about this incident:

• The burglary occured in the 200 block of W. Oakwood Blvd. in Redwood City, near the border of Atherton. It took place sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12.
• The suspects stole electronics and jewelry from the home and fled.
• Gus is a chocolate lab puppy around 11-12 weeks old. He wears a collar with a blue dogbone on it, with the contact information of his owners.

Anyone who may have seen anything or knows anything about this incident is asked to call RCPD Detective Josh Chilton at 650-780-7141, or after-hours at 650-369-3331. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.

Persons providing information that leads to the suspect’s identification may be eligible for a cash reward from Crime Stoppers.

A local family is desperately searching for their puppy, "Gus," after they came home Monday to find their home ransacked and Gus missing.

Nina M., who lives on Oakwood Circle at the edge of Redwood City near Atherton, said her family had just adopted Gus three weeks before, and it was the first time they had ever left him home alone.

Nina says she came home to find her gate wide open and her home ransacked, with many valuables including multiple television sets gone.

But the one valuable that is irreplaceable to her family is Gus.

Nina said she has consulted with the Redwood City Police, but all evidence suggests that Gus did not run away, but was stolen.

Luckily, her two older dogs are still home safe. They hope soon, Gus will be, too.

Nina says Gus is only 11-12 weeks old, so he was too young to be microchipped.

"We are doing everything we can to spread the word, and I appreciate everyone keeping your eyes and ears open," she said. "We are canvassing [the neighborhood] and contacting shelters, [animal] hospitals, Craigslist, everything."
