SMC Man Arrested In Connection with October Shooting: Police

Police used surveillance technology to identify the suspect's car in the shooting.

EAST PALO ALTO, CA — A 36-year-old East Palo Alto man was arrested last week for his involvement in an October shooting after detectives used surveillance technology to identify the suspect's car, police announced Monday.

At around 4:23 a.m. on Oct. 18, East Palo Alto Police Department officers said they responded to shots fired on the 1000 block of Beech Street. Officers found evidence of a shooting but no victims or suspects at the scene.

On Thursday, a victim came to the police department to report that he had been shot at while driving on Beech Street on Oct. 18. The victim identified Luis Albert Sotelo-Villa as the shooter.

EPAD police said they arrested Sotelo-Villa Thursday at his home. He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on charges related to the shooting.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
