Police said the pair were married and reportedly experiencing marital difficulties.

Officers said evidence indicates the husband shot and killed the wife before attempting to take his own life.

Madrigal Barajas was found by first responders with a pulse and transported to a nearby hospital, but his self-inflicted wound was determined to be unsurvivable, and he never regained consciousness, police said.

A gun was recovered at the scene, police said.
