Update: Elderly Woman Shot, Killed While Driving in East Oakland

Police had no suspects in the fatal shooting as of Wednesday afternoon.

An elderly woman was shot and killed while driving through East Oakland this afternoon (Wednesday), a police officer said.

The shooting was reported around 1:25 p.m. in the 2400 block of Fern Street in Oakland's Fairfax neighborhood.

Police said it appeared the woman was shot while driving, causing her vehicle to collide with an unoccupied parked car.

Officers arriving at the scene were unable to locate any suspects, and no arrests had been made in the case as of 3 p.m., Officer J. Moore said.
